University Police receive report of rape/sexual assault

In compliance with the Timely Notice Provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the Penn State University Police are giving notice of an incident reported to have occurred in Pollock/South Residence Hall Area on the University Park campus of Penn State. 

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- University Police have received a report of rape/sexual assault, constituting a forcible sexual offense, occurring in the university’s Pollock/South Residence Hall Area between approximately 11 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 29) and 5 a.m. today (Nov. 30). Pollock/South Residence Halls are located in the south portion of campus, adjacent to Bigler Road, College Avenue and Shortlidge Road. The suspect is a student who is known to the victim. 

It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community. It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible “dangerous conditions” on or near the campus and at affiliate organizations off campus; an “affirmative duty” exists to warn persons associated with this University of possible peril at the hands of some third-party or parties.

Police advise that members of the University community: 

-- Do not walk alone; call 814-865-WALK for a free security escort
-- Report suspicious behavior to University Police immediately
-- If you feel you are in an unsafe environment, get to a safe place immediately and call for help

Information can also be reported to the Center County Crime Stoppers at 877-99CRIME. A cash reward of up to $1,000 could be awarded to the individual(s) that provide information that leads to an arrest.
