University Police investigating reported sexual assault

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State University Police are investigating a sexual assault reported to have occurred in the early morning hours on Wednesday, Dec. 19, in a residence hall on the University Park campus. The victim and suspect both are students, and the suspect is known to the victim.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact Penn State University Police at 814-863-1111 or Centre County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-99-CRIME. Callers may remain anonymous or may visit the Penn State University Police Silent Witness website at http://www.police.psu.edu/witness/. Those providing information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 from Centre County Crime Stoppers.

University Police would also like to remind the community to:

-- Never walk alone at night; call 814-865-WALK (814-865-9225) for an escort.
-- Immediately report suspicious activity to University Police. For emergencies, call 911. For University Park non-emergency calls, dial 863-1111.
-- If you feel you are in an unsafe environment, get to a safe place immediately and call for help.
