UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), a unit of Student Affairs, has recently received continuing accreditation from the International Association of Counseling Services Inc. (IACS). As a result of a review of its mission, programs and services, IACS cited CAPS for the array of services that “are an integral part of the educational mission of the institution, supporting the mission in a variety of ways, through consultation, teaching, preventive and developmental interventions, and treatment.” CAPS was recognized for the “high quality of your services,” and was noted for launching the innovative Show You Care campaign to impact the campus culture and environment. IACS also cited the center for its integral role in the University's recovery efforts in the aftermath of the sexual abuse scandal by providing extensive outreach interventions for the campus community on sexual abuse, sexual assault, and child sexual abuse awareness and prevention.

As the primary accrediting body for university counseling and psychological service providers, IACS has been providing accreditation since the late 1940s. With its renewed accreditation, the campus community can be assured of the high quality of services being provided by Counseling and Psychological Services.
