Penn State Police: Suspect to be charged in sexual assault

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State University Police reported today (Jan. 29) that a suspect has been identified in a sexual assault reported over the weekend and that criminal charges will be filed. 

Police reported an indecent assault, constituting a forcible sexual assault, that occurred around 1 a.m. Jan. 26, on the sidewalk located between Shortlidge Road and the east side entrance to the HUB Parking Deck on the University Park campus. The victim, a Penn State student, said a male grabbed her without consent. 

University Police also would like to remind the community to:
-- Never walk alone at night; call 814-865-WALK (814-865-9225) for an escort.
-- Immediately report suspicious activity to University Police. For emergencies, call 911. For University Park nonemergency calls, dial 814-863-1111.
-- If you feel you are in an unsafe environment, get to a safe place immediately and call for help.
