Pro sports memorabilia among auction items at Lion Wine and Cheese

Pieces of sports memorabilia featuring photos and autographs from some of today's popular professional athletes are among the items up for grabs at the sixth annual Lion Wine and Cheese, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, in the Multipurpose Building at Penn State DuBois. The items include autographed photos of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, and Philadelphia Flyers center Danny Briere. A jersey autographed by former Pittsburgh Steeler Jerome Bettis, and a print signed by golf legend Arnold Palmer will also cross the auction block.

Also up for bid are Lexus Club seats for a Pittsburgh Pirates game, and Penn State football tickets.

Another popular item returning to the Lion Wine and Cheese live auction this year is the Starr Hill Winery Winemaking Experience, which will give the highest bidder the opportunity to make, bottle, and label their own wine at the winery. Starr Hill then donates a portion of the proceeds from sales of the new wine to Penn State DuBois Athletics.

Additional items include golf packages at local courses, a weekend getaway at a rustic lodge, and a variety of gift baskets donated by local businesses and individuals.

Sponsored by the DuBois Educational Foundation, the event also will feature wine and cheese tasting, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and dessert.

Admission tickets are $30 per person, and include a chance at the event door prize. All proceeds will benefit intercollegiate athletic programs at Penn State DuBois. For additional information or to purchase tickets, contact Julie Duffee at 814-375-4775 or
