'American Idol' winner to sing at Penn State Altoona

Season 11 "American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips will perform at Penn State Altoona at 8 p.m. April 26, in the Adler Athletic Complex. The opening act will be Casey Weston, a finalist from Season 1 of "The Voice."

The spring concert is offered as the final event of the Campus Activities Board's Spring Week 2013.

Tickets for the concert are already on sale for Penn State Altoona students for $10 starting in the Office of Student Life, 205 Slep Student Center. Students may purchase two tickets per PSU ID. Tickets for the general public will go on sale beginning Feb. 6 for $20 with a limit of four per person, cash or check only.

The 22-year-old songwriter/guitarist released "Home," his debut single that showcases his rich, raspy vocals and masterful guitar skills, and marked the biggest opening sales week for an "Idol" winner's coronation song. The track has since gone triple platinum and was used as the soundtrack for the 2012 U.S. Olympics Women's Gymnastics team.

Phillips released his debut album "The World From The Side Of The Moon" in November when it debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and has already reached gold status.
