Dave Yoho

Man in the military

Dave Yoho, 91, enlisted in the U.S. Maritime Service in 1944, and did his basic training at Sheepshead Bay, New York. The left photo shows Yoho in his uniform. He makes speeches, television appearances, and broadcasts to veterans groups, and, as shown in the photo at right from a year ago, he was the featured speaker on Memorial Day at the World War II Memorial. Yoho was also honored this year on the 75th anniversary of D-Day during the closing ceremony, held in Normandy at the Military Cemetery. He was the honored recipient of the U.S. flag, which was lowered at the end of the celebration.  Yoho has a longstanding connection with Penn State via his son, Brad Yoho, who is an undergraduate. "Through him, I became addicted to the themes of your university and of course, the football team, who I watch regularly, both on television and in person," he said.
