Ramiah's first birthday

Ramiah Martin, 1, can’t keep her eyes off of lollipop offered up by her father, Robert, in the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit at Penn State Children’s Hospital. Ramiah had been born with a rare condition called tracheal agenesis, meaning she was born without a trachea. Once this was discovered, a 3D printed device was surgically implanted as a scaffold to help Ramiah’s esophagus serve as a replacement for her missing trachea..
