Chandr Hubble images CDFS-XT1

X-ray (left) and optical (right) images of the small patch of sky around the flaring X-ray source, made with the Chandra X-ray Observatory (CXO) and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), respectively. The position of the flaring X-ray source is in the center of each image, and the small white marker bars also show the source location. Note, in the optical image, the faintness of the galaxy that hosted the flaring X-ray source — a small galaxy about 10.7 billion light years from Earth.
