Map of risk locations

Individuals or “nodes” in a social network form a series of “components,” where each component is made up of nodes connected through at least one link. Illustration shows the spatial extents of the five largest socio-spatial network components in a study of infectious disease transmission in Winnipeg, Canada. The intersection of these components along with a density ‘heat map’ of risk activity locations illustrates where each component presents risk of spreading infection.
