Alumni Association events part of Goodyear Cotton Bowl festivities
The Nittany Lions are heading to Texas for the Goodyear Cotton Bowl this month, and alumni and fans are invited to participate in a variety of events leading up to the game.

Eight will receive Distinguished Alumni Awards in 2020
Eight Penn State alumni selected by the Penn State Board of Trustees will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award, which is the University's highest honor presented to its alumni.

President's Concert returns to New York City on Feb. 18
The Penn State School of Music will return to Carnegie Hall for the 14th annual President's Concert on Tuesday, Feb. 18, with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble performing at 8 p.m. at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall.

Join the Alumni Association for its 2020 City Lights programs in Florida
The first two programs in the Penn State Alumni Association's 2020 City Lights series will be held in Florida in Ft. Lauderdale and at The Villages, respectively. The 2020 series will highlight elements of Penn State's Impact The World Initiative, demonstrating how the Penn State community is imagining, collaborating and inventing its way to a better world.

Penn Staters celebrate #GivingTuesday with more than 7,600 gifts
Tuesday, Dec. 3, marked the fifth year that Penn State participated in #GivingTuesday, the national day to celebrate the power of giving back — and alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends supported the effort in record numbers. On Dec. 2 and 3, areas across the University received more than $710,000 and garnered more than 7,600 gifts.

Bill Jaffe Leadership Initiative encourages giving to art museum project
When Penn State philanthropists Thomas Sharbaugh and Kristin Hayes learned of their friend Bill Jaffe's leadership gift to the proposed University Art Museum, they were inspired to make their own gift in honor of Jaffe, a longtime supporter of the arts at Penn State. The couple has committed $250,000 to create the Bill Jaffe Leadership Initiative in hopes of encouraging others to make a gift recognizing their friend and fellow philanthropist, whose generosity has touched numerous areas across the University.

B. Stephen Carpenter II appointed dean of the College of Arts and Architecture
B. Stephen Carpenter II, professor of art education and African American studies and interim director of Penn State's School of Visual Arts, has been appointed to the position of dean of the College of Arts and Architecture, following a national search. Carpenter will start in his new role effective Jan. 1, 2020.

Design work is progressing for the first stage of a proposed, decade-long, multi-phase plan that will transform the Penn State College of Engineering and its footprint on the University Park campus.

IST internship coordinator doubles as author on Blue Band and Penn State history
Penn State alumni find various ways to stay connected to their alma mater. Some give time and money to support their favorite programs, while others join alumni groups and represent Penn State in their local communities. For Thomas Range, 1989, internship coordinator and career coach at the College of Information Sciences and Technology, he remains involved through his connection to the Penn State Blue Band.

Penn State Bakery creates annual gingerbread replica of Nittany Lion Inn
Penn State is all about tradition, and the holiday season brings with it a favorite tradition for The Nittany Lion Inn: a gingerbread replica of the historic hotel, created by the Penn State Bakery.
