Wastewater sampling may give advanced warning of potential COVID-19 outbreaks

Wastewater sampling for coronavirus on campus and in the surrounding community could alert University decision makers to a potential outbreak several days before individuals exhibit symptoms of an infection. The initiative — part of Penn State’s multilayered approach to test, monitor and mitigate for COVID-19 — could enable leaders to take swift actions to minimize the virus’s spread with the goal of helping to protect the health and safety of the community.  Full story

Zoom vendor is implementing changes worldwide to enhance meeting security.

New Zoom setting changes to take effect on Sept. 27

Penn State was informed by the Zoom vendor on Sunday, Sept. 20, that the security updates planned for Sept. 27 will not take effect as announced. As a result, Penn State Zoom users will not see any changes to their current security settings. Details on any future security updates from Zoom will be provided to the Penn State community as soon as Penn State IT is made aware.   Full story
