Trustees name Harrisburg campus library in honor of Madlyn Hanes
The library building at Penn State Harrisburg has been named the Madlyn Levine Hanes Library in honor of the University's senior vice president for Commonwealth Campuses and executive chancellor, who will retire from Penn State on Aug. 1.

Libraries' Mark Mattson receives 2021 APLU Malone International Leadership Award
Mark Mattson, head of global engagement initiatives and international partnerships for the University Libraries, has received one of two 2021 Michael P. Malone International Leadership Awards from the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU).

Inaugural Linda Stein Upstander Award recipient honors Indian artist
The first recipient of the Linda Stein Upstander Award, administered by Penn State University Libraries, is Isha Yadav from Guagon, India, an Ambedkar University doctoral candidate, Delhi University assistant professor, creator of socially engaged art and founder of a nonprofit all-women support community and the Delhi Art Slam. Yadav said she hopes to "create community art to speak up against gender disparities faced by marginalised communities especially in local and regional South Asian communities."

University Libraries documenting the Black student alumni experience
The Black Student Alumni Oral History Project, a yearlong undertaking initiated and led by Penn State graduate Maia Hill and supported by colleagues in the Eberly Family Special Collections Library, records oral histories with 13 Black alumni who attended Penn State between 1969 and 1971.

Libraries wins international marketing award for 2020 Great Rare Books Bake-Off
Penn State University Libraries placed first in the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions PressReader International Marketing Award competition for the Great Rare Books Bake-Off, a joint effort with Monash University Library in Australia.
