These are the words that more than 100 graduates heard from Chancellor Kristin Woolever before receiving their bachelor's degrees at Penn State Brandywine's Spring Commencement Ceremony on May 10. This was Woolever's first commencement since joining the campus in February.

A mesmerizing duet of John Legend's "All of Me." Abington students Rachel Sweeney and Timothy Pugliese performed the song at the annual Spring Sing showcase for student singers and musicians.

Undergraduate researcher recognized with national award
The Council of Undergraduate Research (CUR), a national organization that supports and promotes high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship, has presented Penn State Brandywine sophomore Jonathan Fridman with the 2014 GeoCUR Award for Excellence in Student Research. Fridman is one of only 10 undergraduate students from across the United States to receive the honor.

Five named CIC Academic Leadership Program Fellows
The Committee on Institutional Cooperation's Academic Leadership Program has gained five additional fellows from the Penn State ranks. The CIC is the academic consortium of the Big Ten universities plus the University of Chicago. Through its leadership program, participants who have demonstrated exceptional ability and administrative promise are aided in further developing their leadership and managerial skills.

Forming a vision: Penn State's 18th president travels the state
In the weeks leading up to his official appointment on May 12, Eric Barron and Penn State's first lady, Molly Barron, have crisscrossed the Commonwealth, hearing from students, faculty, staff and community leaders at Penn State's campuses. In every case, Barron said, he has been struck by the commitment to excellence in education, to student success and to the surrounding community.

Barron introduces six major topics to spark discussion across University
Well before his first official day in office at Penn State, President Eric Barron has been busy on a learning tour that has taken him to all corners of the Commonwealth. He has met with students, faculty, staff and community leaders on Penn State's campuses; with students and administrative and academic leadership at University Park; and with state leaders. At every turn, Barron has sought information on six major topics, areas, he says, that are driven either by national discussions on higher education or by a wealth of data about students and student success.

Transition to new emergency messaging service begins
Beginning May 14, Penn State students, faculty and staff will start receiving emails inviting them to add their emergency contact information to PSUAlert, the University's new emergency alerts system. As announced earlier this year, Penn State is transitioning to PSUAlert, away from the current emergency messaging service known as PSUTXT. The new service will feature enhanced messaging capabilities and more robust integration with the University's other communications platforms.
