Spring 2021 plans announced, giving students, faculty and staff time to prepare
Plans for Penn State's Spring 2021 semester, announced Oct. 4, include a later start in January; continuation of the current flexible instructional modes, including in-person; the elimination of spring break; and completion of instruction for all undergraduate and graduate students by April 30. The University will maintain its observance of Martin Luther King Jr. day on Jan. 18 for students and faculty, when no classes will be held and Dr. King's legacy will be celebrated through a number of virtual events.

Penn State Greater Allegheny to examine Black women's health in annual summit
WPSU will produce and broadcast Penn State Greater Allegheny's Crossing Bridges Summit this year. The first event will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15. The event is free and open to the public.

David Witwer, Penn State's Laureate for the 2020-2021 academic year will address the Penn State Greater Allegheny's campus community on Oct. 7, via ZOOM.

PSUAC postpones the start of basketball to spring semester 2021
Penn State Commonwealth Campuses Beaver, Brandywine, DuBois, Fayette, Greater Allegheny, Hazleton, Lehigh Valley, Mont Alto, New Kensington, Scranton, Schuylkill, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre and York will follow national movement among small conferences and push basketball competition to the spring semester due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Students encouraged to seek tutoring upon receiving Starfish notifications
When instructors across the University recently reported on students' academic progress in Starfish, a number of students received warning flags and were encouraged to improve their academic performance.

Beginning Oct. 6, Penn State University Libraries and the Office for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring will present a series of free virtual seminars designed to help undergraduate students build and enhance research skills.

The Medical Minute: Planning ahead for a potential emergency department visit
Medical emergencies, by their nature, come with very little or no warning. While any injury or illness that requires a trip to the emergency room will likely cause distress, putting an action plan in place now can help minimize the anxiety and fear of a future visit.
