As the outbreak of the novel coronavirus grows internationally and across the country, Penn State is urging its faculty, staff and students to be vigilant and to continue to exercise good judgment to stay as safe as possible. In addition to the risk to their personal health, travelers should be aware of the elevated risk to other members of the community — including individuals with compromised immune systems and the elderly — should they become infected and return to campus.

New Pennsylvania voting law allowing mail-in ballot to impact statewide voters
A new voting law now enables most Pennsylvanians to vote by mail-in ballot and gives voters more time to register to vote. Penn State students, faculty and staff across the Commonwealth are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the reforms, as well as important dates leading up to the state primary election on April 28.

Penn State ranks 15th nationally for producing Peace Corps volunteers
Penn State has been recognized by the Peace Corps as No. 15 nationally for volunteer-producing colleges and universities in 2020. This is the fourth consecutive year that Penn State has ranked among the top 25 large schools in the country.

Judy Chicago Art Education Award invites submissions
Through the Flower, a nonprofit art organization, invites artists, scholars and educators to apply for the 2020 Judy Chicago Art Education Award. The award, named in honor of one of the Feminist Art Movement's key founders, is awarded annually in partnership with Penn State and is accompanied by a $1,500 prize along with a certificate signed by Chicago. The application deadline is June 1.

'Voices' event at Libraries to showcase unique storytellers in their own words
Join Penn State University Libraries on March 18 for "Voices: The Share Your Story Showcase," where lived experiences are honored through listening attentively to one another's stories. "Voices" kicks off with a moderated Showcase Panel at 11 a.m. in Foster Auditorium, 102 Paterno Library. Then, individual storytelling sessions will be held in smaller group appointments of approximately 45 minutes each, from 1-5 p.m. at various Pattee Library and Paterno Library classroom locations.
