EcoReps, student educators for sustainability at Penn State, hosted an Earth Hour 2021 event at Old Main on March 27. The students placed decorated, bag-lanterns around the steps and front of the building and the lights that normally illuminate Old Main were turned off at 8:30 pm to celebrate the globally recognized Earth Hour.

Earth Hour 2021 was celebrated by EcoReps, Penn State students for sustainability, at Old Main on March 27. The lights were turned off at the building for one-hour starting at 8:30 pm, and EcoReps filled the steps and surrounding porch with decorated, bag-lanterns.

Started by the World Wildlife Federation (WWF) and partners as a symbolic lights-out event in 2007, Earth Hour is now one of the world’s largest grassroots movements for the environment, and is held annually on the last Saturday in March.
