Penn State Yesterday and Today: Beaver Stadium. From 1960 to today, Penn State's Beaver Stadium has undergone a variety of expansions and improvements, leading to the facility becoming the second-largest stadium in the United States, and home to one of the most electric atmospheres in college sports.
Yesterday and Today: Beaver Stadium
Beaver Stadium was moved from center campus and reconstructed at its present site in 1959. At that time the stadium capacity was approximately 45,000. After several renovations and expansions, including adding endzone upper decks in 2001, Beaver Stadium currently holds just over 106,000.
Yesterday and Today: Beaver Stadium 1960
Formerly known as Beaver Field and located near the present site of Keller Building and the Nittany Parking deck, Beaver Stadium was moved piece by piece to its current east-campus location in 1959. Penn State hosted their first game at the expanded stadium in the fall of 1960.

Throughout the years Penn State's Beaver Stadium went through several expansion projects, increasing the original capacity from 45,000 to over 106,000 today. Beaver Stadium is now the second largest sports stadium in the United States.
