On April 3, 2019, Penn State’s College of Engineering and Center for Science and the Schools hosted the PA KidWind Challenge 2019 at Penn State University Park. The annual event is a student-oriented wind turbine design contest where middle and high school students design and construct their own small-scale wind turbines with the goal of creating a device that is efficient, elegant, and highly functional. Students are judged on turbine performance in a small-scale wind tunnel and on turbine design quality, process, and knowledge of the wind industry.
