2010 Farm Show 1
More than 400,000 people visit the Pennsylvania state Farm Show every year, held annually in Harrisburg, Pa., making it the largest indoor agricultural event in the country. This year's Farm Show runs from Jan. 9-16. In its 94th year, it's also one of the oldest. With snow on the ground outdoors, visitors enjoy the colorful bounty of Pennsylvania-grown produce on display.

Penn State's Pesticide Education Program and Pennsylvania Poison Centers are working together to protect children's health through poison prevention. This mini-golf exhibit, staffed by Penn State Master Gardener volunteers, combines fun and education.

Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences is well represented throughout the sprawling Farm Show Complex. This booth illustrates the wide range of research and outreach related to water quality. Penn State Cooperative Extension is a strong partner with the Department of Agriculture and a significant supporter of the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

A sculpture made from nearly 1,000 pounds of butter draws amazed onlookers at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. The sculpture, created by artist Jim Victor, of Conshohocken, Montgomery County, is a life-sized tribute to the state's dairy farm families. Pennsylvania is home to more than 7,100 dairy farmers and 537,000 dairy cows.
