In addition to foot patrols, officers use bicycles to navigate the tailgating lots. On their patrols, police inevitably encounter problems in the lots, including unruly parties and underage drinkers.

The Blue Band gets a police escort each game from the Blue Band Building to the Bryce Jordan Center. This week, the Penn State Police used their new electric motorcycles for the escort. Officers also patrolled tailgate lots and areas surrounding Beaver Stadium on the motorcycles as well.

Large student tailgate parties such as this one will draw the attention of police, as they patrol the parking areas before football games. While police had stopped by this tailgate early on in the day to warn them to keep underage drinkers away, someone who appeared to be attending this tailgate was cited for underage drinking when the officers stopped by a second time.

Students who plan to return on the day of the game should avoid Park Avenue because game-day traffic patterns will prevent them from getting to their residence halls. Instead, students should approach campus using Atherton Street (Route 322 Business) and College Avenue (Route 26).

Police officers are stationed in and around Beaver Stadium during Penn State football games. In addition to the University's police officers many different area agencies -- Pennsylvania State Police, Spring Township, Bellefonte Borough, Patton Township, Ferguson Township, State College Police and other Penn State campuses -- are used to staff the games.

At the end of each game, police ensure that no fans come down onto the field.
