4th Fest 2010-001
The band A Day Awaits performed on the Towne Square stage at 4 p.m. for 4thFest. Bands, magic, various demonstrations, carnival rides and games and other activities were going full-force for 4thFest, held on Penn State's University Park campus.

Between 4,000 and 5,000 hot dogs were served up for free at 4thFest, although donations were requested. A sign suggested $1 per hot dog, but also said donations of $10 or more would get the volunteers serving the hot dogs to ring their cowbell. All proceeds go to running the event.

Penn State police patrolled the 4thFest area on bicycles on Sunday. According to Fireworksguide.com, 4thFest ranks third in the Top 10 list of the "largest, biggest, best 4th of July Fireworks shows annually," behind only Macy's 4th of July in New York City and the Pops Concert at the Esplanade in Boston.

Not an "X" but rather a "V" marked the spot for the skydiver to target for his landing on the Stadium West field, across from the Bryce Jordan Center.

The signature event of the afternoon for this year's Star Spangled Spectacular was the delivery of a 7,000-square-foot flag by a skydiver from Team Fastrax. Each star on the flag is about the size of the skydiver, who stood six feet tall.

Family Brew performed on the Towne Square stage outside the Bryce Jordan Center as part of the entertainment for 4thFest attendees. Entertainment was nonstop on three stages during the afternoon and early evening.

The VIP seating area filled up quickly as the start of the fireworks show drew near. All of the proceeds from the $25 tickets to the area goes to fund the fireworks show.
