As THON captains counted down the last few seconds until 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, the 708 THON dancers and their Moralers, all of whom had been sitting, got to their feet to start their 46-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping marathon to raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund.

The mats, covered in baby powder, will be brought out a few times during THON 2011 to offer the dancers a short break from being on their feet. The massages last fewer than 10 seconds, though, so the break is indeed a short one.
