Tom Richard is a professor of agricultural and biological engineering. He is the director of Penn State’s Institutes for Energy and the Environment, and an expert in microbial processes related to biomass energy. His research group focuses on microbial processes that occur in three-phase porous media, where solid, liquid, and gas phases all play critical roles.
