G.U.I.D.E.S: Girls Undertaking Interest in Design, Engineering, and Science

GUIDES participants (middle school students) will explore different aspects of science and engineering in a fun, hands-on environment. Activities are facilitated by Penn State Greater Allegheny faculty to introduce students to the exciting worlds of science and engineering. Each activity is designed to foster deep thinking and leadership skills, such as goal setting, teamwork and effective communication.

Participants will explore the topic of transportation through 3D printing, robotics, physics, mathematics and chemistry. As part of the experience, participants will have lunch each day with local women scientists or engineers, and use their newly acquired science and engineering skills to work on a weeklong project to be presented on the final day of camp.
