College 101 for Adult Learners

Starting college as an adult can be daunting, so we're offering a free College 101 workshop for adults!

At Penn State Schuylkill, we want our adult students to feel comfortable with the thought of returning to the classroom.

College 101 is a two-week, four-session workshop that combines the personal touch of a traditional classroom setting and the flexibility of online learning. It is held in a hybrid format, meaning students will only be in the classroom for part of the time. The other time is spent working on your own, online, and through activities like discussion boards with your classmates.

The next sessions will be held in July and August o prepare students for fall 2018.

On-campus meetings will be held at 6 p.m. on July 31, Aug. 2, Aug. 7, and Aug. 9.

This free program gives you an opportunity to become acclimated to the campus and the University, while allowing you to get an overall sense of what it is like to be a college student — before you start taking actual classes.

You will learn about:

  • computer programs needed for your classes;
  • how to use the computer lab;
  • library services;
  • tutoring services; and
  • other campus facilities.
