Law students assist with cases involving crimes against Muslims and others
Many lawyers dream of one day working on a high-profile international criminal case. For two Penn State Dickinson Law students, that dream became reality last fall. Third-year Dickinson Law students Malcolm McDermond and Olivia Phillips completed internships at the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) in The Hague, The Netherlands, as part of the Law School’s International Justice Program.

Conway named dean of Dickinson Law
Danielle M. Conway, dean and professor of law at the University of Maine School of Law, has been named the new dean of Penn State’s Dickinson Law after a national search. Her appointment is effective on July 1, 2019.
Dickinson Law professor appears in international documentary
It took more than five years after Ratko Mladic’s arrest for a judgment to be entered in the case of The Prosecutor v. Ratko Mladic, a case led by Dickinson Law Professor of Law Dermot Groome at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague. A former senior trial attorney at the Office of the Prosecutor for ICTY, Groome led the prosecution against Mladic as well as other notable ICTY cases, including the Bosnia indictment against Slobodan Milosevic.

Panel highlights legal, business side of using human health data in research
Data security, intellectual property, health research and technology transfer were key topics discussed by an interdisciplinary panel of experts from Penn State's Institute for CyberScience, Penn State Dickinson Law, Penn State Law, and the College of Engineering. The panel highlighted challenges for researchers working with human health data, as well as free resources available for researchers interested in taking products to market.

Throughout the fourth annual convocation at Dickinson Law on Sept. 21, every speaker returned to one word: community. The ceremony, which formally inducted the diverse, accomplished and ambitious class of 2021 and master of laws students into the law school during the 185th anniversary of its founding, emphasized the rewards of drawing together.
Dickinson Law hosts U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims
A three-judge panel from the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims heard oral argument in the case of Batcher v. Wilkie at Dickinson Law on Sept. 14 The issue presented was whether and to what extent the terms of a separation agreement affect a spouse’s entitlement to special apportionment of a veteran’s disability compensation benefits.
