Friday signifies the end of the work week for most students, and that means relaxing, laying back and recharging for the next week. Some students though decide to donate the first couple of hours to helping the University get a little bit greener. Each day the Office of Physical Plant is responsible for supplying power to the more than 900 buildings at University Park. During the work week, that amounts to a lot of watts of power, but offices and classrooms need light. The question looms, though, "Do classrooms need light on the weekend when they are empty?" Students volunteer in groups with the Friday Night Lights Out program to turn off lights in academic buildings that are unoccupied. This saves countless amounts of electricity and at the same time teaches students how to give back.Student reporter Renae Gornick reports.
