Iconic Penn State elm taken down over spring break 2012

This video montage mixes real-time and timelapse footage to capture Penn State arborists as they cut down the east matching elm in front of Old Main. Two incurable diseases -- Dutch elm disease and elm yellows -- have required this majestic tree and many others on the University Park campus to be removed in an effort to keep healthy elms alive. For more information, see "Disease claims historic Old Main elm" at live.psu.edu A second video with more background, titled "Disease stricken matching elm tree slated for removal," is at www.youtube.com also on the Penn State YouTube channel.
