Bolstered by event victories from redshirt-juniors Mahagony Jones (Cleveland, Ohio) and Evonne Britton (El Paso, Texas), the Nittany Lion women's track and field team captured top honors at the team standings Sunday (May 12) at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships at Ohio State University. The Nittany Lions totaled 133 points on their way to the program's fourth outdoor conference team title.

Head coach Charlene Morett announced the addition of five new members to the Nittany Lion program joining the Penn State field hockey team for the 2013 season. Morett and the coaching staff welcome new Lions Sarah Bates (Highland, Md.), Brooke Birosik (Harrisburg, Pa.), Carly Celkos (Voorhees, N.J.), Emilee Ehret (Philadelphia) and Kirsten Gochnauer (Mount Joy, Pa.) during the early signing period.

A quartet of Penn State student-athletes earned 2013 Capital One Academic All-District® At-Large selections from College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). On the men's side, wrestler Matt Brown was the lone Penn State honoree, while all three nominated student-athletes from the women's side earned first-team distinction; field hockey forward Kelsey Amy, lacrosse midfielder Tatum Coffey and swimmer Gabi Shishkoff.

Priding itself on consistently holding one of the strongest and most competitive schedules in the nation, the Penn State field hockey team and head coach Charlene Morett have announced the 2013 fall schedule. The Nittany Lions will host six contests at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex, as well as face eight opponents that competed in the 2012 NCAA Field Hockey Tournament, including reigning champions, Princeton.

The Big Ten Conference office announced its inaugural postgraduate scholarships winners on May 16 with softball infielder Lauren Yao and men's gymnast Scott Rosenthal named the recipients from Penn State.

Sophomore Maggie McCormick (Eldersburg, Md.) recorded a team-high three points and freshmen Madison Cyr (Westminster, Md.) and Jenna Mosketti (Fallston, Md.) netted two goals each, but the seventh-seeded Penn State women's lacrosse team fell to No. 2 Northwestern, 15-7, in the NCAA quarterfinals at Lakeside Field Saturday (May 18) evening.

The No. 7 Penn State women's lacrosse team will look to punch a ticket to its first NCAA semifinal since 1999 when the Nittany Lions travel to No. 2 Northwestern Saturday, May 18 for an 8 p.m. clash. The NCAA quarterfinal matchup from Lakeside Field will air live on the Big Ten Network.

The two-time defending Big Ten Champion Penn State Lady Lions will host 2013 NCAA semifinalist and ACC newcomer Notre Dame in the Seventh Annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday, December 4, it was announced by the Big Ten and ACC. The meeting will be a reunion of sorts as Penn State head coach Coquese Washington is a Notre Dame alum and played for UND mentor Muffet McGraw. Washington was also an assistant under McGraw (1999-07).
