Penn State is moving to a new health insurance provider — United Healthcare Student Resources — as the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) carrier for the 2017-18 academic year in order to continue to offer quality health care benefits at a competitive price.
Structured in the form of an artists’ book club, ART 411 Seminar in Contemporary Art explores the book form as a medium, a metaphor, and also conceptually — as a site which simultaneously holds and produces content through original visual and verbal narrative structures and materials — and thus forges alternative forms of writing, of seeing, and of thinking. During an event held as part of the class, "Speed Dating Artists' Books," students and guests browsed through more than 200 artists’ books from Pattee Library's circulating collection, with participants checking out a number of them for later projects.

In 1971, the Shah of Iran celebrated 2,500 years of the Persian monarchy by throwing an extravagant party that would mark the break between the Shah and the people of Iran he reigned over. The documentary “Decadence and Downfall – The Shah of Iran’s Ultimate Party” will be shown as part of the “Docunight: Iran via Documentaries” series at 7 p.m. on May 3.
Nicole Kirchner, of Birchrunville, Pennsylvania, and Jennifer Taylor, of Erie, Pennsylvania, have been named student marshals for the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences' spring 2017 commencement. The ceremony will be held April 5 at Pegula Ice Arena on Penn State's University Park campus.

The Lion Ambassadors will honor the senior class with its annual Senior Sendoff from noon to 4 p.m. April 27 at the Hintz Family Alumni Center at University Park. A collaborative effort by multiple Penn State departments and external contractors resulted in the successful move of a commemorative tree in the East Halls residential complex. The entire process to move the tree from its former site to its new one took two days.
