Student-Athletes Set New Standards for Academic Acheivement in Fall
2/26/03
Penn State's student-athletes are accustomed to setting records for their performance in competition. But last fall, more than half of the University's student-athletes set a record for their performance in the classroom. A total of 390 student-athletes earned a 3.0 grade point average during the 2002 fall semester -- an impressive 53.8 percent of the 724 young men and women who were actively participating in Penn State's 29 varsity sports. Also a record was the 174 student-athletes -- 24 percent overall -- who earned a 3.5 GPA or better to gain dean's list recognition.
