Public invited to attend free program on television's role in society

Matt Glowacki will present a free program, "Diversity According to South Park and Family Guy," from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, in the auditorium of the Penn State Beaver Student Union Building. The program is open to the public. Glowacki, who was born without legs in 1973, is a competitive athlete focused on promoting achievement and excellence in all areas of life, including competitive sports, the corporate world, and the community. He believes animated comedies can be instrumental in teaching and reinforcing morals and values of young adults.

Ben Bailey from the television show "Cash Cab" will bring his stand-up comedy to Penn State York's Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4. An Evening with Adam Richman, host of "Man v. Food," is set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at Penn State York's Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center). Ticket prices are $70 VIP (including a meet and greet) and $45, and go on sale at 10 a.m. on May 9. Pullo Center members can order tickets on May 4. Tickets can be purchased at The Pullo Center box office, charged by phone at 717-505-8900, or online at www.pullocenter.yk.psu.edu and www.Ticketmaster.com. New residence hall cable TV is popular with students, cuts costs

Students love it, it saves Penn State money and it offers high quality television content to more than 8,900 on-campus television outlets. After its first semester, the new on-campus cable TV system is a clear success.

WPSU-TV raised more than $63,000 in the June pledge drive, which exceeds the station's goal of $45,000 by more than 140 percent. The drive was 11 days long and included fundraising around programs for both children and adults.
Penn College TV series receives top 'Communicator' award

An Award of Excellence, the top honor bestowed in the annual Communicator Awards, has been received by Pennsylvania College of Technology for the welding episode of its career-awareness TV series, "degrees that work." The series is a co-production with WVIA-TV. The Communicator Awards honor the best creative work in the various communications fields.
WPSU-TV's weekend pledge drive exceeds goal

As part of a special two-day weekend pledge drive, WPSU-TV raised more than $19,400. The fundraiser was held this past Saturday and Sunday. The weekend goal for the "WPSU February Showcase: A Weekend of PBS Favorites" was $15,000.
