Student leaders offer insights on juggling classes, responsibilities
Elaine Tanella, Leah Matusow, Lindsay Scher and TJ Bard understand what it means to be leaders. As Penn State undergraduate students who also oversee highly active student organizations, they have had to develop time-management and leadership skills while maintaining their course loads. They offered insights into their organizations -- THON, Homecoming, the Student Programming Association (SPA) entertainment committee and the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA), respectively -- and their personal approaches to and recommendations for managing classes and extracurricular duties.
SPA concert features two bands
Hundreds of students packed into Alumni Hall of the HUB-Robeson Center on Monday, Feb. 7, for a Student Programming Association-sponsored concert featuring cover band Go Go Gadjet and headlining ska punk band Streetlight Manifesto. Sponsorship by the Student Programming Association (SPA) allowed the concert to be free for Penn State students with valid student identification, while general admission tickets were $5. Heard on Campus: Khaled Hosseini
"I'm doing something I really love for a living. You can't say that about a lot of people -- I never wanted to be a clock-watcher. Now it's allowed me access to the media and a forum to be heard. My books are bringing attention to issues in Afghanistan and their success translates to helping raise money for projects in Afghanistan."
-- Khaled Hosseini, author of international best-seller "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns," on his writing career.
