The Penn State Department of Architecture and H. Campbell and Eleanor R. Stuckeman School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture host an Architecture/Landscape Architecture Summer Camp for high school students every July. The program provides campers the opportunity to utilize the impressive facilities of the Stuckeman Family Building and be mentored by faculty, alumni and experienced graduate and undergraduate students.

Assignment: Create a spatial composition defined by planar elements that will then be used to explore the drawing conventions of an axonometric drawing. Richard L. Hindle named A.E. Bye Landscape Architecture Archives Research Fellow

Penn State's Stuckeman School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture's A.E. Bye Landscape Architecture Archives Research Fellow 2013 will be awarded to Richard L. Hindle, landscape architect. The review committee reported, "Richard Hindle's proposal was the most outstanding. Hindle's plan to study Bye's approach to plants ---- from his inspiration by Roberto Burle-Marx, to his adaptations of native plants of the NE U.S. for design -- would yield results of great interest to students and practitioners of landscape architecture.”

'WWW Drawing' exhibit features hand-made architectural drawings in a digital age

From Feb. 20 through March 30, three renowned architects -- Mike Webb, James Wines and Mark West -- will be showcased in an exhibition titled "WWW Drawing," at the Rouse Gallery at Penn State's Stuckeman School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. The title of the exhibit refers simultaneously to their shared last-name initial, and to the continued significance of hand-made architectural drawings in the digital, World Wide Web era.

Thaisa Way, American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), will give a lecture, "Earth Forms as Landscape Architecture: The Practices of A.E. Bye and Contemporaries," 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, in the Stuckeman Jury Space, Stuckeman Family Building, on Penn State's University Park campus. Way plans to share her research findings as inaugural A.E. Bye/Landscape Architecture Archives Research Fellow for Penn State's Department of Landscape Architecture, Stuckeman School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.

University of Houston architecture professor to give lecture

Michelangelo Sabatino, associate professor at the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture at the University of Houston, will give a talk from noon to 2 p.m. on Feb. 3 in the jury space at the Stuckeman Building on Penn State's University Park campus. Titled "Topographies of the Modern: Architectural Environments of Arthur Erickson," Sabatino's talk will focus on the evolution of the style of Canadian architect Arthur Erickson. This marks the second lecture of the "Outside Looking In" series.
