Penn State faculty members got an in-depth tour of Pennsylvania's fourth largest city, Erie, on day two of the 16th annual Road Scholars Tour.

Sixteenth Road Scholars tour to visit northern Pa., Penn State sites

The annual Road Scholars spring tour, hosted by President Graham Spanier, will embark for its trip across northern central and western Pennsylvania on May 9th. Faculty who have been invited to participate are reminded to register for the trip no later than March 31. The tour offers several dynamic opportunities to learn about Penn State and Pennsylvania as they travel to several University campuses and tour businesses and popular historic sites. In addition, the tour provides an excellent opportunity for faculty to establish relationships with colleagues across the University, while the itinerary connects them with Penn Staters and residents of the Commonwealth.

Approximately 50 new and newly tenured faculty members from 13 Penn State campuses traveled with President Graham Spanier and three members of the University's Board of Trustees on the 14th annual Road Scholars Tour.Participants on the three-day bus tour visited western Pennsylvania sites, including three Penn State campuses and one University research facility, two major international manufacturers headquartered in the greater Pittsburgh area and three historic sites in the region. Along the way members of Penn State Cooperative Extension gave presentations about their outreach efforts in Pennsylvania regarding green energy, environmental conservation and agribusiness initiatives.

The annual Road Scholars spring tour for Penn State faculty, hosted by President Graham Spanier, is now accepting reservations for its May 11-13 trip across southwestern Pennsylvania. The tour offers new and newly tenured Penn State faculty several dynamic opportunities to learn about the University and Pennsylvania as they travel to several Penn State campuses and tour businesses and popular historic sites. There is no cost for faculty to participate in this year's tour except for lunch in the Pittsburgh Strip District, one of the city's most popular spots for great food and nightlife. The deadline to register online is Monday, April 13.

Roughly 55 participants hit the road for the 13th annual Road Scholars Tour on Monday. The tour, held May 12-14 this year, offers new and newly tenured Penn State faculty several dynamic opportunities to learn about the University and Pennsylvania as they travel to several Penn State campuses and tour businesses and popular historic sites. This year's participants will visit four University locations, the Capitol Building in Harrisburg and six additional sites, including an Amish farm in Lancaster County, Eckley Miners' Village in Weatherly, Samuel S. Lewis State Park in Lewisberry, the Milton S. Hershey School in Hershey, Starbucks coffee roasting plant in York and Sterman Masser Inc. in Sacramento, Pa.
