Penn State Beaver announced the winners of the 11th annual Undergraduate Research Fair held Wednesday, April 4, in the Student Union Building. Forty-three students participated in the event.

Students were required to work with a faculty mentor in researching their topic and preparing an oral and/or poster presentation. Presentations were made in a variety of academic areas, including engineering, administration of justice, psychology, communications, information sciences and technology (IST), genetics and biology, and philosophy.

Penn State Beaver students, faculty, and staff attended meetings with and presentations by the Penn State Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Equity (CLGBTE), Monday, April 11.

The commission held a meeting at 10 a.m., followed by a presentation, "The Unique Challenges Facing Individuals Who Belong to Multiple Minority Populations" delivered by Tamara Storey, director of counseling services in Penn State's Dickinson School of Law, and Terry Watson, a coordinator of residence life at Penn State University Park. At noon, "A Recovering Homophobe's Reflections on Sexual Minority Status" was presented by Carla Pratt, professor of law in the Dickinson School of Law, and was followed by a luncheon for CLGBTE and campus members.
