The Greater Allegheny cross-country team has turned in strong performances on the course all season, but three runners were recently recognized for their off-the-course achievements, being named United States Collegiate Athletic Association Academic All-Americans.
Freshman Nathan Ferraro (West Mifflin, Pa.), sophomore Jared Reesman (Indian Valley, Pa.) and sophomore Maria Marroquin (Benjamin Banneker, Washington, D.C.) received the honor in November at the USCAA Championship.
Penn State Greater Allegheny will hold an Athletics Open House at 11 a.m. Dec. 8, giving student athletes the opportunity to meet with admissions counselors and coaches, talk to current athletes, tour the campus and facilities, and attend the men's and women's basketball games as they host Penn State Scranton at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. This is a great opportunity to check out campus life. Registration is free.
The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) announced that Penn State Greater Allegheny and Robert Morris University in Springfield, Ill., have been selected to host the 2012 through 2015 USCAA Baseball Small College World Series. Robert Morris has been selected as the host for 2012 and 2014 at Chamberlain Park. Penn State Greater Allegheny will host in 2013 and 2015 at Pullman Park in Butler, Pa. The 2012 Small College World Series will be held May 7-12.
