Registration is open for four winter baseball and softball camps for young athletes. The camps are offered by the Penn State Beaver Office of Continuing Education and the Athletic Department, and will be held in the campus gymnasium.

Beaver campus coaches and staff members will provide instruction, feedback and tips to help campers improve their athletic performance as they develop the necessary skills for their particular sport(s). In addition, participants will interact with other campers of similar ages and skill levels.

Prospective students and their families are invited to attend "Think 2 Year Degree, Think Penn State Fayette" at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus. This Open House will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Cultural Center of the Williams Building.

The Penn State Beaver library is hosting a display of nature photography by retired professor of physics James Monroe. The public is invited to visit this free exhibit. Over the years, Monroe has traveled the country to photograph unique and often unseen views of nature. His work can be seen in area shops, and he has donated his photos to help fundraising efforts on behalf of scholarships for campus students. Monroe retired from Beaver in 2007 after teaching there for 30 years. Center Theatre Players will hold open auditions for principal and multiple featured roles in their upcoming production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' directed by Sandy Reigel. Children ages 9-13 and adults are invited to audition. The show, which will be presented as part of the Penn State Beaver Brodhead Cultural Center's summer season, will be held at 7:30 p.m., July 26, 27, and 28, in the auditorium of the Beaver campus Student Union Building, Center Township. Adults who audition are asked to prepare one song from the show or a song from a similar pop/rock musical. Auditions will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, April 29, and Monday, April 30, in the auditorium. Adults must schedule an audition time by contacting the Brodhead Cultural Center at 724-773-3610 or rxm70@psu.edu. Children's auditions will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, May 6, in the auditorium. Children do not need to schedule an audition time and do not need to prepare a song to audition. Children will learn a song taught by Reigel and will perform it individually. The Penn State Beaver Office of Student Affairs and Student Activities will present "Snakes Alive" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 20, in the lower lobby of the Student Union Building. The program is free and open to the public. Snakes Alive is a national touring program that offers a hands-on, educational experience by allowing visitors to interact with a variety of reptiles, or visitors can choose to view them from a distance.

African-American author and speaker Daryl Davis will present a talk titled "Klan-Destine Relationships" at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the Student Union Building auditorium at Penn State Beaver. His presentation is free and open to the public and provides an overview of his book by the same name. Davis will chart his experiences in infiltrating the Ku Klux Klan and offers a personal, real-life look at racism in the United States.

Slam poetry comes to Penn State Beaver when Joaquin Zihuatanejo and Natasha Carrizosa present "Fire and Rain," 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, in the auditorium of the Student Union Building. The program is free and open to the public.

Slam poetry allows poets to perform original work, individually or as part of a team. Manner of presentation and enthusiasm are important as well as content of the work.

Comedian and actor D'Sean Ross will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, in the auditorium of the Student Union Building at Penn State Beaver. Ross has been recognized nationally for his stand-up comedy and his observations on life as well as his work as an actor. The performance will be free and open to the public.
