The defending national champion Penn State women's volleyball team (36-0) collected a school-record six AVCA All-America honors, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Wednesday (Dec. 17). Junior setter Alisha Glass (Leland, Mich.), senior outside hitter Nicole Fawcett (Zanesfield, Ohio), senior middle hitter Christa Harmotto (Aliquippa, Pa.) and junior outside hitter Megan Hodge (Durham, N.C.) were all named AVCA First Team All-America while sophomore opposite Blair Brown (Purcellville, Va.) and sophomore middle hitter Arielle Wilson (Broadview, Ill.) both earned AVCA Second Team All-America honors. The six total honors is also an AVCA record, as no school has ever had six players receive recognition in the same season.

The top-ranked Penn State women's volleyball team (37-0) earned the right to defend its NCAA title with a hard-fought five-game victory (25-17, 25-18, 15-25, 22-25, 15-11) over No. 4 Nebraska in front of a raucous NCAA-record crowd of 17,430 fans Thursday (Dec. 18) night at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. The crowd was the largest ever to witness an NCAA collegiate volleyball match. The Nittany Lions will meet No. 2 Stanford for the NCAA title in a rematch of last year's championship match on Saturday (Dec. 20) at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET) live on ESPN2. The Cardinal outlasted No. 3 Texas in five games in the first NCAA Semifinal contest on Thursday.

The top-ranked Penn State women's volleyball team swept No. 8 Cal (25-21, 25-21, 25-17) in front of 4,036 boisterous fans at Rec Hall Saturday to advance to the NCAA National Semifinals for the seventh time in program history. The Nittany Lions will take on fourth-seed Nebraska at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday (Dec. 18) at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. That contest will be broadcast live on ESPN2. The other NCAA National Semifinal will feature Stanford and Texas, the second and third seeds in the tournament.

The top-ranked Penn State women's volleyball team captured its 34th consecutive win of the season with a three-game sweep of Yale (25-18, 25-11, 25-12) Saturday at Rec Hall in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Nittany Lions advance to the NCAA Regional Semifinal at 6 p.m. next Friday at Rec Hall, and will play Western Michigan in the second match of the day. The first match will feature Cincinnati or Illinois against Cal or New Mexico State and will begin at 3:30 p.m. Junior outside hitter Megan Hodge (Durham, N.C.) led all players with 14 kills on .458 hitting as senior middle hitter Christa Harmotto (Aliquippa, Pa.) and sophomore middle hitter Arielle Wilson (Broadview, Ill.) both contributed seven kills.

The top-ranked Penn State women's volleyball team (32-0, 20-0 Big Ten) opens up NCAA play at home this weekend, hosting Long Island in the First Round at 6 p.m. ET on Friday (Dec. 5) at Rec Hall. The other match on Friday features Yale against Ohio beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET. The winners from each of Friday's matches square off at 4 p.m on Saturday (Dec. 6) for a berth in the NCAA Regional Semifinal, slated for next weekend at Rec Hall.
