Penn State Beaver will host The Asia Project, a spoken word poetry event, at noon Oct. 17 in the Student Union Building auditorium. Poet Asia Samson will offer a blend of humor, inspiration and reflections on daily life in his poetry while accompanied by music provided by his brother-in-law Jollan Aurelio. Samson has appeared on HBO's "Russell Simmons presents Def Poetry" and Black Family Channel's "Spoken" and has performed with Dead Prez, Mos Def and DMX.

The Center Theatre Players will hold open auditions for a variety of children's roles in the group's summer production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" directed by Sandy Reigel. Children ages 9-13 are welcome to audition.

The show, which will be presented as part of the Penn State Beaver Brodhead Cultural Center's summer season, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on July 26, 27 and 28, in the auditorium of the Beaver campus Student Union Building, Center Township. Children's auditions will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the auditorium.
