The TechCelerator@State College will again offer its free Research to Start-Up Workshop from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 19, in Room 243, Technology Center, across from The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.

A free public lecture, "FBI Scientist's View on the Development of Forensic Science," will be given on Oct. 24 by Melissa Anne Smrz, retired FBI special agent and former deputy assistant director of the FBI Laboratory. This event is the final of four presentations on forensic science and its use as a law-enforcement tool in Penn State's 2011 Forensic Science Lecture Series. The lecture will be held from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. in 111 Wartik Laboratory on the Penn State University Park campus.

A free public lecture titled "Dynamic Interplay of Transcription Regulation and Chromatin Structure" will explore how gene expression is regulated in cells where DNA is organized into a packaging structure called chromatin. The lecture, which is part of the 30th Summer Symposium in Molecular Biology sponsored by Penn State University's Eberly College of Science, will be given by John Lis, the Barbara McClintock professor of molecular biology and genetics at Cornell University, at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, in the Hetzel Union Building (HUB) - Robeson Center Auditorium on Penn State's University Park campus.

Qi-Kun Xue, a professor of physics at Tsinghua University in China, will present the 2011 Mueller Lecture in Physics on March 31 at the Penn State University Park campus. The free public lecture is sponsored by the Eberly College of Science and the Department of Physics.

The Risk Management Office is pleased to offer a monthly educational brown-bag series. A variety of risk management topics will be offered, including but not limited to delegated signature authority, assessing risk in your area, institutional conflict of interest, and eDiscovery. The Risk Management staff and other guest speakers across the University will hold the sessions and take questions.
