High school students attended annual Communications Day

On Tuesday, April 3, more than 130 students from six area high schools attended Penn State Beaver's seventh annual Communications Day, which featured a theme of "A World Away. A Message Apart." The event was designed, organized and implemented by students in the Introduction to Public Relations and the Public Relations Methods courses taught by Juliette Storr, associate professor of communications.

University announces faculty promotions at Penn State Beaver

Two faculty members at Penn State Beaver have received promotions. John Chapin is professor of communications, and Juliette Storr is associate professor of communications, effective July 1. Chapin has conducted extensive research and written numerous publications about mass media, intimate partner violence, bullying, stalking, racism, and school violence. Storr was recognized for her teaching, research, and publications in inter-cultural communication, business communication, Caribbean journalism and digital technology. Storr conducts HRDC workshop for University faculty, staff

Juliette Storr, assistant professor of communications at Penn State Beaver, recently conducted a one-day training and professional development workshop on behalf of Penn State's University Office of Global Programs and the Human Resource Development Center. "Communicating Across Cultures... Building Partnerships" was designed to identify the importance of valuing differences, empathize with minority perspectives, recognize personal biases about cultural differences, identify techniques to manage cultural differences, and recognize personal levels of readiness to embrace differences. Storr holds a Ph.D. in mass communication and a certification in contemporary history from Ohio University, a master's degree in radio-television-film production from Wayne State University, and a bachelor's degree in mass communication from the University of Windsor, Canada.
