Penn State York will honor the veterans on campus during a noon lunch on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, in the community room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center. Faculty, staff, students and members of the community are invited to show their support for veterans, enjoy a free lunch, and hear from two speakers.

A special ceremony was held March 22 at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus to induct 58 students into Pi Sigma Phi scholastic honor society. These students were chosen based on academic achievement and the completion of 30 credits and at least a 3.5 GPA. The mission of Pi Sigma Phi is to promote higher standards of learning and high scholastic attainment.
Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine recently recognized employees celebrating five-year service milestones and three outstanding employees who have made exceptional professional contributions to the organization.
On May 5, Penn State Beaver sophomores Ashley Watkins (Seneca Valley High School/Cranberry Township) and Kori Freyermuth (Perry Traditional Academy, Pittsburgh) were honored by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) for their outstanding performances on the Lady Lions softball team. Watkins was named USCAA All-American and Freyermuth received USCAA Honorable Mention All-American. Watkins and Freyermuth helped lead Beaver to a 21-11 overall record, including an undefeated Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) regular season finish. Senior Jasmine Green (Orange High School/Jersey City, N.J.) earned First Team All-Conference honors, including being named the PSUAC Player of the Year for the third time in her college career. Senior Heather Sandusky (New Brighton High School/New Brighton, Pa.) was also named to the PSUAC All-Conference First Team for the fourth time in her career. Junior Shelby Parks (Center High School/Aliquippa, Pa.) was named a PSUAC All-Conference Honorable Mention for the first time in her career. The Beaver Valley Area Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association and the Penn State Beaver Alumni Society were honored at the Alumni Association's annual volunteer recognition dinner Friday, Oct. 29, at Penn State University Park. The Alumni Chapter received the Outstanding Service Project Award, and the Alumni Society received the Scholarship and Fundraising Award. In addition, each group received $500.
