York campus celebrates Penn State Day, Homecoming
Prospective students and their families along with members of the York community, and students, faculty and staff from Penn State York celebrated Penn State Day and Homecoming on Oct. 13. Visitors to the campus learned about the educational opportunities available at Penn State York and took part in a variety of other activities to highlight the campus.
Lion Life, the Penn State Hershey Medical Center's medical helicopter landed on campus and visitors had the opportunity to tour it and talk with members if the life-saving medical unit. In addition, a variety of children's activities including pumpkin painting, story time, and inflatable games kept young visitors to the campus busy.
Velveeta to perform as part of York Homecoming celebration
Velveeta, a popular State College retro rock band, will perform at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 at The Paddock on Market, 3406 E. Market St., York, as part of Penn State York's Homecoming Weekend activities. Attendees must be age 21 or older. The event is being sponsored by the Penn State York Alumni Society. Tickets are $15, and can be purchased in advance for $15 at www.yk.psu.edu/homecoming or by check made payable to the Penn State Alumni Society, c/o Penn State York Alumni and Development Office, 1031 Edgecomb Ave., York, PA 17403.
Penn State rallies for 39-28 victory over Northwestern
After watching No. 24/22 Northwestern grab the momentum with a long punt return near the end of the third quarter, the Nittany Lion offense roared back with 22 straight points and the defense blanked the high-powered Wildcat attack over the final 16 minutes to close out the Penn State football team's come-from-behind victory, 39-28, Saturday at Beaver Stadium. The winning streak sits at four games for Penn State and they handed the Wildcats their first loss of the season.

The Penn State football team returns to Beaver Stadium Saturday (Oct. 6) for a Homecoming clash with undefeated No. 24 Northwestern. The game kicks at noon on ESPN. The Nittany Lions are coming off a victory at Illinois to open the Big Ten schedule. This is the last scheduled meeting between Penn State and Northwestern until at least 2017.

Penn State York will celebrate its second annual Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 12 and 13 with a variety of events, including a concert, reunions, a Life Lion helicopter landing and events for children. Activities are free and open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
Velveeta, a popular State College retro rock band will be doing a one night performance as part of Penn State York's Homecoming Weekend activities. Attendees must be age 21 or older. Tickets are $15. This event is being sponsored by the Penn State York Alumni Society. Join Lion Ambassadors to 'Guard the Lion Shrine' on Oct. 5
Penn State's Lion Ambassadors, along with members of the public and campus community, will "guard the lion shrine" beginning at 10 p.m. Oct. 5. The event, which runs until midnight, is the oldest Penn State Homecoming tradition and celebrates the history and significance of the Penn State mascot. The event includes student performing groups, free food, games, prizes and music; all are welcome to attend.
Penn State Berks' Family and Homecoming Weekend unites generations
Families of Penn State Berks students will experience life on campus, while alumni will reconnect when the college hosts its annual Family and Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 19 to 21. The theme of this year's event is "There's a Hero Within." The program will include activities for the entire family with educational, social and athletic events that showcase the campus. Events are open to all attendees with the exception of alumni brunch, which requires preregistration.
Students prepare for Homecoming parade webcast
For the eighth consecutive year, students from the College of Communications will produce a live webcast of the Penn State Homecoming parade, which will be available at homecoming.psu.edu.
Loop, Link and Campus Shuttle bus adjustments for Homecoming 2012
The following route adjustments will be in effect for public transit during the Penn State Homecoming Parade, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5. Passengers should expect delays because of increased traffic. Visit http://www.catabus.com to view all changes to town and campus bus service.
Homecoming to affect traffic in State College on Oct. 5 and 6
Penn State's annual Homecoming parade will affect traffic along the parade route in State College and on the University Park campus from about 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 5. The weekend's homecoming activities also will mean heavier traffic for the football game, slated for a noon kickoff on Oct. 6; those who are traveling to town on Saturday morning should leave plenty of time for arrival.
