An estimated 1,500 people turned out to see Sen. Hillary Clinton speak in Rec Hall on Penn State's University Park campus on Sunday evening. Her visit was the latest in a long string of campaign visits statewide over the past several weeks. It was Clinton's last stop in a day that included visits to Bethlehem and Johnstown. As the countdown to the primary winds down to less than 24 hours, the candidates continue to get in a few last-minute stops.

In a last-minute flurry of campaign activity before Tuesday's primary election, the presidential candidates and their representatives are making several stops throughout Pennsylvania over the next few days, including stops at several Penn State campuses. The most recent addition to the schedule is a visit by Sen. Hillary Clinton to Rec Hall on Penn State's University Park campus at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 20. The doors will open at 6 p.m.
In preparation for the visit, the main gym in Rec Hall will be closed all day Sunday, although the south gym will remain open throughout the day. For security reasons, no bags, no umbrellas and no signs of any kind will be permitted to be taken in to Rec Hall. The only entrance to the event will be the front doors by the Curtin-Burrowes intersection, where metal detectors will be in use. Over the past six weeks, Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Ron Paul all have made stops to Penn State campuses including University Park, Brandywine, Fayette, Erie and Greater Allegheny. The visits are part of Penn State's effort to expose students to the 2008 presidential campaign, part of the University's open-door policy to host campaign stops during this primary season.

Roughly 4,000 people packed into the Penn State Fayette Community Center on Monday evening to hear presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speak. Penn State welcomed the Clinton campaign to campus as part of the University's effort to expose students to the 2008 presidential campaign and is part of an open-door policy for the campaigns of both parties' presidential candidates. Most of the event's attendees were able to fit into the building's gym, although about 400 watched a live video feed from an auditorium in the building. Penn State Fayette Chancellor Emmanuel Osagie welcomed the crowd at the start of the event. Speakers included Sheriff Gary Brownfield, Fayette County Commissioner Vince Vicites, Fayette County Commissioner Vince Zapotosky, state Sen. Richard Kasunic, U.S. Rep. John Murtha, and Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell. Clinton spoke about the economy, health-care, the home mortgage crisis, the high cost of higher education and student loans, the No Child Left Behind Act, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, among other issues.
