The newest exhibit in the Penn State Harrisburg Library, "American Women and Modern Culture, 1890-1920," on display until Feb. 8, has been re-purposed with a new twist - mobility. Based upon the work of students in Dr. Erin Battat's Women and the American Experience course, the exhibit can now hit the road, with plans underway to have it on display at other Penn State campuses this spring.

Penn State Harrisburg will hold a Doctoral Programs Information Night at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, in the campus library. The session will provide information on the campus' doctorate in adult education, the doctorate in public administration and the doctorate in American studies. "Pride and Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience," a new traveling exhibition at the Penn State Harrisburg library opens Aug. 31 and runs through Oct. 14. "Pride and Passion" examines the challenges African-American baseball players faced as they sought equal opportunities in their sport after the Civil War.

The exhibit features photographs of the teams, players, original documents and artifacts in the collections of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and other institutions. The library also will host several presentations, all free and open to the public, in conjunction with the exhibition.

The Penn State Harrisburg library celebrated its new Abraham Lincoln exhibit with a visit from a special guest. Lincoln, as portrayed by respected actor and historian James Getty, greeted guests and recounted stories, personal and political, from his life. The event kicked off the opening of "Forever-Free: Abraham Lincoln's Journey to Emancipation," a traveling exhibition on display in the library until Dec. 10.
