A $1 million gift from Tom Lucas, an industrial engineering alumnus, and his wife, Nicki, will create the Lucas Professorship in Industrial Engineering. "This generous endowment from Tom and Nicki gives us the opportunity to attract a pre-eminent faculty member to our department," said Paul Griffin, Peter and Angela Dal Pezzo Department Head Chair.

Penn State New Kensington, in conjunction with other Penn State campuses, is participating in a University-wide philanthropy initiative on Thursday, Nov. 15. The second Penn State Day of Philanthropy is intended to raise awareness of private giving's impact on the University and its students. Alumni and friends are encouraged to support the campus by giving online. By designating Penn State New Kensington, gifts benefit the Future Fund at the campus. The Future Fund holds unrestricted gifts that are essential to the continued success of the campus. Chancellor Kevin Snider depends on these flexible resources to address the New Kensington campus' most pressing needs and to create opportunities. Penn State New Kensington, in conjunction with other Penn State campuses, is participating in a University-wide philanthropy initiative on Thursday, Nov. 15. The second "Penn State Day of Philanthropy" is intended to raise awareness of private giving's impact on the University and its students. "These are challenging fiscal times for Penn State and for the New Kensington campus," said Chancellor Kevin Snider. "Higher education is not supported at the same percentage as it was when many of us were in school. Our ability to continue being accessible is going to depend on scholarships, fellowships, paid internships and other programs designed to help struggling students through the burden of paying for higher education." Alumni and friends are encouraged to support the campus giving online. By designating Penn State New Kensington, your gift benefits the Future Fund at the campus. The Future Fund holds unrestricted gifts that are essential to the continued success of the campus. Pittsburgh's day of giving Oct 3; online donations partially matched

Penn State New Kensington, in cooperation with the Pittsburgh Foundation, is participating in a regional philanthropy initiative that begins at midnight Wednesday, Oct. 3.

The fourth annual "Pittsburgh Gives Day of Giving 2012" is a 24-hour period during which online donations to the campus from Allegheny and Westmoreland county residents are partially matched by the Pittsburgh Foundation. Only credit card donations made through the pittsburghgives.org website are eligible to be matched. This is the first year that the New Kensington campus has participated in the program.

Renaisance Fund established at Penn State York

Penn State York recently established the first Renaissance Fund at the campus thanks to a $30,000 gift from Susquehanna Bank to meet the minimum endowment requirement for the fund. This Renaissance Fund is dedicated to students who begin their Penn State journey at Penn State York. This fund will provide a Penn State York student with about $1,500 per year at current endowment spending rates. The scholarship can be renewed each year for up to eight semesters.

Alumnus makes first gift through Penn State's Charitable Gift Fund

Earl K. Harbaugh, a 1961 Penn State alumnus, and his wife, Kay L. Harbaugh, recently made the first leadership gift to the Penn State University Charitable Gift Fund (PSUGF), which will benefit the University and other charitable organizations. The Harbaughs' gift fund will support programs in the College of Agricultural Sciences.

The University recently launched the Pennsylvania State University Charitable Gift Fund, a donor-advised fund (DAF) that allows Penn State supporters to invest their charitable dollars and direct contributions to both the University and other nonprofit organizations.
