Corporate leaders to highlight partnerships with Penn State

Leaders from global corporations General Electric (GE), Siemens Corporation and Volvo will visit Penn State over the course of the next two weeks to highlight and strengthen partnerships with the University in the areas of student recruitment and research collaboration. Penn State's graduates are among the most popular with corporate recruiters; in a 2010 Wall Street Journal survey, recruiters ranked the University as their top destination for high-quality graduates. Last month, representatives from more than 500 companies came from across the country to talk with students at Penn State's annual fall career fair.

GE chairman and CEO to visit Penn State Oct. 26

Jeffrey Immelt, chairman and chief executive officer at General Electric (GE), will highlight his company's ongoing partnership with Penn State during a daylong visit to the University Park campus on Oct. 26. Immelt will talk to students, faculty, staff and academic leaders about the importance of continued cooperation between GE and Penn State, focused on the education of a global workforce and continued innovation through research.

As part of his visit, Immelt will participate in a moderated discussion on business, leadership and competition, at 3 p.m. in the atrium of the Business Building on campus. The talk, titled "Executive Insights with GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt: Competing for the Future," will be moderated by Charles H. Whiteman, Dean of the Smeal College of Business.
