Greater Allegheny professor works on sculptures

Steel artifacts that have been transformed into sculptures of steelworkers are set to make their way to their new home on Pittsburgh's South Side. Eric Lipsky, assistant professor in engineering at Penn State Greater Allegheny, was a participating artist and consulting engineer on the project.

Office of Continuing Education will offer engineering review course

Penn State Beaver's Office of Continuing Education offers comprehensive PE and EIT review courses for engineers who are preparing for their professional licensure examinations. Review sessions provide subject matter that prepares engineers to sit for the national exams. Courses employ a comprehensive collection of questions and answers from past exams while familiarizing participants with exam formats and procedures. In addition, all programs require participants to spend time out of class to review material and solve homework problems. A review course in Fundamentals of Engineering/Engineer-In-Training will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, from Sept. 28, 2010 through March 29, 2011 at the PennDOT Office in Bridgeville. Topics will include mathematics, statics, mechanics of materials, dynamics, electrical circuits and engineering ethics.

Continuing Education is offering EIT exam

The Penn State Beaver Office of Continuing Education is offering the Engineer-In-Training (EIT) exam. Pennsylvania requires that all engineers, with or without a college degree, must pass the EIT exam as the first step toward licensure in the state. To be eligible to take the exam, participants must have four years of work in an engineering-related area. Topics to be covered include mathematics, statics, mechanics of materials, dynamics, electrical circuits, materials science, chemistry and computers. There also will be a practice exam.
